A Popular Drug Disappeared From Belarusian Pharmacies

"Enterosgel" has been out of pharmacies nationwide for three months.

Belarusians are concerned about the disappearance of the popular intestinal adsorbent Enterosgel. The problem has reached social networks, where they write that they can't find the drug for several months.

"Enterosgel" hasn't been in pharmacies across the country for three months. It was leaving for re-registration. In early May, the first batch of the drug was available in Minsk," explained in one of the comments.

The pharmacy service tabletka.by shows the availability of paste "Enterosgel" of Russian production in three pharmacies of BSTpharm in Minsk at a price of Br38.5. Judging by the quantity, indicated in the search service, there's a lot of the drug - from 120 to almost 500 pieces in stock.

In social networks, people share how they save themselves from intestinal infections without the usual medicine, using Coca-Cola, and even a similar drug for animals.

At the same time, people complain about the recent intestinal infection in different cities.

"Salidarnasts" asked a specialist how likely an outbreak of intestinal infections is now and how to help without Enterosgel.

- Intestinal infections peak in summer," explains family doctor Maya Tserakulava in an express comment. - But intestinal infections, not only rotavirus, but 600 different ones, circulate in Belarus all the time.

They never disappear and can be different, not necessarily that everyone is sick with the same one.

- Is it possible to drink cola or sprite in such a condition, as some people advise?

- Not necessarily cola or sprite. Any rehydration, that is, any liquid will help.

Sweet drinks subjectively can alleviate the state of weakness, as a person during the disease is poor health, a lot of calories are lost, he can not eat and make up for their deficit.

Rehydration solutions are ideal in such cases, especially for children, as during intestinal infections we lose not only calories, but in vomiting and diarrhea, and salt.

One of the most dangerous complications in the case of intestinal infections - dehydration, disruption of water-electrolyte balance.

To replenish salts there are special rehydration solutions from the pharmacy, such as "Normohydron" or "Rehydron". You can use some drinks for athletes with electrolytes, even brine from cucumbers, in principle, you can drink any salty liquid. Just in powders from the pharmacy composition is balanced.

In any case, the first thing to do in any intestinal infections with loss of physiological fluids is to compensate electrolytes.

Besides this, you need to drink a lot, and it is absolutely indifferent what you drink - cola, compote, tea, chicken broth, etc., everything except milk.

Besides this, you need to drink a lot, and it does not matter what you drink - cola, compote, tea, chicken broth, etc. - everything except milk.

I should clarify, if you do not drink yourself, everything can end up with a drip. Because the body still needs to replenish fluids.

Lots of drinking is enough to make it easier. That is, you need to prevent dehydration.

In the second place you can take sorbents: activated charcoal, "Smecta", "Enterosgel" and its analogs, in general, there are many such drugs on the market.

In this case, "Smecta" will have a stronger effect. However, in any case, all these drugs alleviate symptoms, but will not accelerate recovery.

- In what diseases is still necessary exactly "Enterosgel"?

- Basically, it is recommended for food poisoning, intestinal infections, but also prescribed for allergic reactions, food hypersensitivity.

But in all these cases, too, you can choose any sorbent, not necessarily this one.
