Belarusian «oligarchs» can loose their houses

More than 90 squatted land lots have been vacated and more than 70 illegally constructed buildings and metal garages have been demolished after the examination held by the State Control Committee in Gomel region, press-service of Gomel region State Control Committee reports.
26 officials of the regional land planning and geodesic services and authorities of the regional committee for nature resources and environment protection were called to disciplinary account. 62 administrative protocols were filed, 28 were examined. The total sum of the administrative fine made BR 9 mln.
According to the press-service, 7 resolutions of the local executive and administrative bodies were declined and arranged according to the legal norms for land deals; two rent agreements for land lots were annulled. Squatted land lots are being vacated and illegally constructed buildings and garages are being demolished.

Owners of expensive mansions must present tax returns, chairperson of the Minsk region State Control Committee Uladzislau Tsydzik told Interfax.
“I hope that the tax inspection, in alliance with law enforcement bodies, will settle a range of questions on the owners of expensive mansions. Where did they get several hundreds dollars? In the old times, wealthy dukes built their castles for centuries. And now equally beautiful palaces are built in one season!” the official said.
“We have demanded 487 tax returns and have considered 90 - everybody finds arguments, a source of income; some say they borrowed the money. We shall check those who lend money - how did they get such an amount? Was this money earned with hard labour, or was it stolen from the state? In this regard we held a meeting with the Minsk Municipal Executive Committee and the Ministry of Taxes and Duties inspection on October 1. We shall try to prove that the expenditures of certain people don’t conform to their income stated in the tax return. I think we shall find the truth. And the means of regulation,” Uladzislau Tsydzik said.
