BPF member Vatslau Areshka, having leaflets on Social March, detained

Today the activist of Belarusian Popular Front Vatslau Areshka, who had the leaflets on the Social March on him, was detained. He was guarded to the Central District Internal Affairs Department. It was said to Radio Svaboda by Valer Ukhnalou, deputy head of the Party of Communist Belarusian, head of the Social March organizing committee.
Vatslau Areshka doesn’t answer the telephone. According to Valer Ukhnalou, the activist had many leaflets on him. It was said in the leaflets that the authorized Social march is to take place in Minsk 4 November, the action starts at the Academy of Sciences at twelve p.m.
Valer Ukhnalou is sure the militia won’t return the leaflets. In general, he notes, the authorities hinder spreading the information about the action, aiming to change the social policy in the country.
Yesterday the head of the Social March organizing committee received a letter from Natallia Piatkevich, deputy chairman of the President’s Administration.
It should be reminded that earlier the letters with offer to discuss the variants of the Social March holding and social policy of the country were sent to the President’s Administration and personally to Natallia Piatkevich.
Ms. Piatkevich has answered that, in her opinion, such problems as social policy, social guarantees are impossible to solve with the help of street actions. According to Ukhnalou, Piatkevich said the President’s Administration is looking for new possibilities for solving the problem of privileges.
