Velcom officially gone over to Austrians

Mobilkom Austria Group Company has finished the deal on buyout of the Belarusian mobile network operator Velcom, CEO of Telekom Austria Group Boris Nemsic said at a press-conference in Minsk today.

“Buying the second largest mobile operator on Belarusian market is a wonderful example of privatization, and of the economic cooperation between Belarus and Austria,” Boris Nemsic underlined.

He expressed hope for a successive cooperation of Telekom Austria Group and Velcom. Boris Nemsic emphasized that the motto of this cooperation will be the words: “Think globally, act locally”.

As said by him, thanks to the deal “an optimal combination of the two systems, local knowledge and international expertise”. Boris Nemsic believes that it would lead to “win-win situation for the Belarusian customers and economy”. “Belarusian experts headed the company successfully, and they have made Velcom an important player on the market. I am sure that with the help of our highly experienced Mobilkom Austria top-managers, Velcom will adopt more international standards, new technologies and services,” B. Nemsic said.

He noted that he is happy that “Velcom has joined our family. In terms of its territory Belarus is the largest country where Mobilkom Austria works. Velcom is to fit out group perfectly, and it’s our main aim,” he underlined.
