David Kramer: «Sanctions against Belarusian regime are consistent with commitments»

The United States denies Belarus’ accusation of violation the agreement on security assurances signed by Minsk and Washington in 1994. As David Kramer, Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, said: “We consider our actions to be wholly consistent with our political commitments and our obligations.”
According to Kramer, Mikhail Khvastou’s, Belarus’ ambassador to the United States, allegation of violating international law by Washington was a diversion from criticism of Belarusian political regime by the West, RBC reports.
Recently Mikhail Khvastou blamed Washington that the sanctions imposed by the States against Belarus are inconsistent with a "memorandum of security assurances" signed by the two countries after Minsk pledged to be a non-nuclear state. According to Kvastou, the US pledged not to take economic action against Belarus and the acting sanctions are violating the international law.
