Future government to revise agreements of today’s regime

The Belarusian Popular Front party has stated that it advocates “coming of serious investments and modern technologies, but against new secret plans of Molotov- Ribbentrop, when Belarus in thrown into Russia’s sphere of influence without open tenders, without fair competition”.
The statement has been disseminated after reports about sale of the oil-processing giant Naftan to Russian Lukoil. Previously Naftan CEO Yakushau announced at a planning meeting that the enterprise would be sold to Russian Lukoil, together with oil processing enterprise Polimir. A list of 120 entreprises which are to be sold to Russian firms was mentioned then as well.
The Belarusian Popular Front party believes this to be one of the results of Putin’s recent visit to Belarus.
“In panic Lukashenka relinquishes our economy and our country to Russia. He refused to accept the recommendations of the European Union to help Belarus in the crisis, as he is afraid of his own nation. But only a free nation can defend independence of their Motherland. 2008 is to become a year of not a symbolic, but real protection of Belarus’ independence from real threats. The Belarusian Popular Front party will bend every effort to unite the energy of protest of independence defenders on March 25 and on other days with the wish of those who are not willing to be hostages of the abortive economic policy,” the statement stresses.
According to the authors of the statement, “the future democratic government of Belarus would have to revise agreements of the current government from the perspective of their legitimacy and correspondence to Belarusian national interests”.
