Today in the Pervomaisky district court of Minsk the trial of Viktar Ivashkevich chairman of organizing committee of the European March planned for 14 October is to be held. He is charged of calling for participation in the unauthorized action. Ivashkevich was detained yesterday on a porch of cafe " Al-Pamidora» together with the deputy chairman of the Party of Communists Belarusian Valery Uhnalyou. Ivashkevich and his four friends celebrated his birthday. On a porch they were met by special troop’s staff.

Viktar Ivashkevich is kept at the Pervomaisky district militia department of Minsk. Yesterday he celebrated his birthday in cafe «Al-Pamidora”. When a group of six persons came out of the cafe, they were met by special troop’s staff, who demanded their passports, Radio Svaboda informs.

«They said that our passes were needed for identifying our personalities. After we had submitted the documents, Ivashkevich and Uhnalyou were asked to come into the bus parked in the vicinity. Viktar Ivashkevich with his gifts and bag was guarded into the bus ", witness Valyantsina Svyatskay informed.

Chairman of the European March organizing committee Viktar Ivashkevich and the deputy chairman of the Party of Communists Belarusian Valery Uhnalyou were brought first to the Pervomaisky district militia department then to the sobering-up station. There the decision was made to release them . But only Valery Uhnalyou was released.

He said to the Svaboda that at the sobering-up station their video-recording was made.

Some leaflets with the European March symbols were found about Viktar Ivashkevich . That was taken as the basis for making the detainment report on his distribution of leaflets calling for participation in unauthorized action.

This administrative report will be considered today in the Pervomaisky district court. Viktar Ivashkevich's colleagues do not exclude that another administrative report can be made as it was in previous cases of arrested persons. For example, during the latest arrests when people after being brought from prison to court were sentenced to other terms of arrest for charges of swearing in court corridors.

Leader of the BNF party Vintsuk Vyachorka declared to Svaboda:

"As to charges they are ridiculous. People sat in café celebrating Viktar Ivashkevich’s birthday without violating the behavior code. They were detained just on coming out of the café by a great number of special troops. They followed the usual scheme of political arrests”.
