1 200 000 Belarusians in special “data bank”

A united data bank of crimes and offences committed in Belarus, Piotr Miklashevich, Prosecutor General of Belarus said on a press conference in Minsk.

“Formation a united data bank of crimes and offences has been finished. Procuracy inspection has shown there were no mass suppressions of offences and crimes during its formation,” the Prosecutor General said.

“I can say with all certainty that data, placed in the data bank, give objective information about the operating situation in Belarus. Only appropriate establishments will have access to the data bank,” P. Miklashevich states.

“The data bank began to form in early 2007. It contains information about 1,2 million people committed crimes and offences. It has no information about 300 000 people who paid fines for fare dodging and crossing roads in unauthorised places,” the Prosecutor General said.
