“Gazprom” to advance gas price for Belarus to Western Europe’s level

Gazprom board of directors has ordered its operating units to continue work on bringing prices for gas delivered to Belarus in line with the level of prices at Western Europe’s markets.
It is said in the report for the press summing up the results of the session of the Gazprom board of directors October 10.
The board of directors has also instructed to take necessary measures to regulate indebtedness for the natural gas delivered to Ukraine, and to continue work on transition to the new scheme of relations with Ukraine in the gas sphere, and in step-by-step transition to market prices for its clients, providing holding talks and preparation of corresponding contracts.
It should be noted that the conditions of natural gas deliveries to Belarus in 2009 haven’t been approved yet.
The Russian side states that the price for gas for Belarus will make $200-250 per thousand cubic metres.
Since January 1 till April 1 2008 Belarus paid $119 per thousand cubic metres. On April 1 the price grew up to $129. Gas deliverances to Belarus in 2008 will make 21.2 billion cubic metres. In 2009 the Belarusian side requests 21.6 billion cubic metres of gas.
