Franak Vyachorka, leader of the Youth of the Belarusian Popular Froth, passed for army service. However, he thinks this decision was “politically motivated”.
“I have platypodia of 2-3 degree and scoliosis of 2 degree. By my diagnoses were reviewed in the military hospital: platypodia of 1-2 degree, scoliosis of 1 degree. All doctors said indirectly that a decision to change diagnosis wasn’t taken by them, but was sent from above,” Franak Vyachorka told in an interview to the Charter’97 press center.
So, he is recognised to be able for duty. But Franak Vyachorka explains this decision by political persecution.
“I was expelled from university. I entered European Humanities University in Vilnius, but I am restricted to travel abroad and can’t go there for examination session,” Vyachorka said.
He stressed that he was under special attention all the time he was at hospital.
Some youth activists, expelled from universities were drafted into army this year. Among them are member of the BPF party Zmitser Zhaleznichenka, head of the Youth of the BPF Zmitser Byalyaeu and activist of the “For Freedom” movement, former MP candidate Vital Karatysh.
As the draft campaign is over now, Franak Vyachorka will be sent for medical examination during the next call-in campaign. He may join the army in winter.
