Hurray, liberalization!

The European Union has noticed some signs of “liberalization” in Belarus and lifted visa sanctions against officials. “Free Theatre” is waiting for an invitation to stage their plays in the Palace of Republic.
The head of the Free Theatre Mikalay Khalezin in an interview to Radio Svaboda discourses upon “liberalization” of the Belarusian regime:
- The EU has lifted sanctions once adopted for the Belarusian high officials. When such influential structures are making such a move, there must be convincing reasons.
It is possible that Europeans have been motivated by liberalization they noticed in our country. And in this connection I have decided to do the following.
Firstly, today, on Wednesday, I am going to put on my best suit, go out and visit Justice Ministry. There I am going to put an application for registration of the Free Theatre, and it is sure to be registered.
After that I will happily go to the Palace of Republic to reserve the stage there to have a performance of Jeans generation or Silence Zone on this prestigious stage.
And it would be even better to agree with Minsk schools to show the play Discover Love which tells about politicians and a journalist disappeared in Belarus.
And after that we can switch on the TV set or radio, to listen to good news. The news which we have been waiting for 14 years. The news that are happening all over the world except our country.
If the liberalization would go on, thank God, maybe Radio Svaboda would appear on air at FM length…
…That’s what I am waiting from lifting of the EU sanctions, and maybe that will happen.
And if not, than the EU has done the wrong move…
