Youth leader Artur Finkevich arrested in Minsk

Artur Finkevich, leader of the youth initiative “Young Belarus”, has been arrested by riot militia in minks today.

As Artur Finkevich friends have told to the Charter’07 press center, the opposition activist was detained at 6.30 pm on Internatsyanalnaya Street near October Square. A militia car drove up to him, then riot militiamen pushed him inside the car and drove away in unknown direction.

The arrest of the youth leader may be connected with Day of Solidarity, marked today in Belarus. Earlier, the activist said to media some peaceful actions were planned in Minsk on that day.
