The President of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov expressed a wish to visit Belarus.
“Unfortunately, I have never visited Belarus. But I hope to visit it,” he said in an interview to the newspaper “President”. He underlined: “And certainly I am sure to visit the legendary Brest Fortress, where about 300 our countrymen died as heroes, and I will read a commemoration prayer there”.
According to the leader of the Chechen Republic, Belarus is “a dynamically developing country, and much beneficial could be adopted by the Chechen Republic in almost all branches of social and economic spheres”.
At the same time, answering the question of the newspaper about what economic or other ties exist between Minsk and Grozny, Kadyrov had to admit that at the moment everything is limited to declarations of intention in the beginning of the 2000ies.
The Chechen President said the following: “Back in summer 2002 an agreement between Minsk city executive committee and Administration of the Chechen republic was signed. It touched upon trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation. In the framework of this agreement’s realization a protocol of intention was signed between the CR Administration represented by Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov and Minsk city executive committee represented by Mikalay Yarokhau. Unfortunately, after the death of my father these relations didn’t receive further development. I think that these relations would be undoubtedly beneficial to our nations”.
