Uladzimir Andreichanka elected chairman of new “house of representatives”

Uladzimir Andreichanka, former chairman of Vitsebsk city executive committee, was elected chairman of the “house of representatives” of the fourth convocation.

According to Interfax, 107 deputies voted in favour of Andreichanka’s candidature for speaker’s post, one against, one bulletin was invalid.

Andreichanka was born in 1949 in the village of Maryanava, Liozna district, Vitsebsk region. He graduated from the Luzhesno agriculture college in 1968; Velikie Luki Agriculture Institute (Russia) 1977; Minsk Higher Communist Party School 1988. An honoured worker of the agricultural industry of Belarus. After the service in the Armed Forces he started his career in the Komsomol and Communist Party organisations in the Liozna district. In 1981-1991 he served as head of the agriculture department, chairman of the Liozna district executive committee, first secretary of the Verkhnedvinsk district committee of the Communist Party of Belarus. In 1991-1994 served as first deputy chairman, chairman of the agriculture and food committee of the Vitebsk region executive committee. In November 1994 he was appointed chairman of the Vitebsk oblast executive committee. A member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus in 1996, 2000, 2004.

He worked as chairman of the Vitsebsk region executive committee since November 1994.

It should be reminded that the international community recognised the Belarusian “parliamentary elections” to be unfree and non-democratic. The opposition didn’t recognise the vote results and considers them to be rigged.
