It has become known at the meeting of the delegation of Belarusian opposition representatives with the deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Tomáš Pojar.
Tomáš Pojar told to Belarusian oppositional politicians about a possibility to promote Belarusian problems at the European level during the Czech chairmanship in the European Union, which is to start since next year. One of the ideas is to hold a summit in the format “27+5” or “27+6”, where 27 are the countries of the European Union, 5 – Ukraine, Moldova and countries of the South Caucasus, and the 6th possible partner is Belarus. The final format of the summit is among other things to depend on the development of the situation in Belarus.
Leaders of the Belarusian opposition believe that if the summit would take place, it is to be held with participation of the democratic forces of Belarus.
“We have told to Tomáš Pojar (and earlier to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski), that any meetings with participation of the regime should take place with participation of the democratic forces. Firstly, we are advocating the dialogue inside Belarus. As for the participation of the representatives of the regime, it can happen depending on the fact whether the democratic changes are taking place in Belarus. So far it is known that there is an idea to hold such a summit, but I would like to remind for instance that the European parliament has already held a session with participation of the parliaments of Ukraine, Moldova, countries of the South Caucasus and Belarus. At this session Belarus was represented by the democratic forces,” the Charter’97prtess-centre was told by the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front party Vintsuk Vyachorka.
