It’s impossible to buy dollars in regions for two days

Population’s demand for foreign currency is growing. It is confirmed by banks staff.

“People buy currency. We do not have dollars for two days already, but it is promised to bring them tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. This situation is usual in the end of the year. Last year there was the same situation, but Euro was bought up. And this year we have Euro sold freely, and dollars have been bought up,” the head of the exchange department of Belarusbank Tatsyana Bazarevich told to Radio Svaboda.

“High demand is felt, it’s like a wave, but the currency is sold freely,” the head of Belarusbank in Slonim district Alyaksandr Lahutsik says.

“Essentially, the problem is as following: recently people buy all currency, but still it remains in free sale. You can buy Euro and dollars. There are periods when we do not have stock. But we buy it soon and bring it,” the director of Belarusbank in Vaukavysk Svyatlana Khvastova said.
