Vintsuk Vyachorka: “Regime doesn’t have to show a liberal face any more”

A deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front party Vintsuk Vyachorka believes that the denial to issue a visa to the Vice Chairman of PACE Political Committee and Vice Speaker of Estonian parliament Kristiina Ojuland is a demonstration of real intentions of the Belarusian regime to “democratize” the country.
“As long as promises have been received that maximally moderate documents would be adopted by the European Union and other European structures, the necessity to demonstrate a kind of liberal face has disappeared. It is to become even worse in the future,” Vintsuk Vyachorka said in an interview to the European Radio for Belarus.
The politician noted that recently none considerable changes have taken place in Belarus, though some Belarusian and foreign politicians claim so. Vintsuk Vyachorka is sure that new politically motivated arrests and imprisonments will follow in Belarus, and new visa barriers for foreigners.
The case with Ivan Byadko, the head of the election campaign of Ivan Shega in Slonim, was called by the politician “the first robin” proving repressions are coming. Byadko was fired on Monday September 29, on the next day after elections.
