The Belarusian authorities will take part in confrontation between Russia and the West. The Ministry of Defence of the neighbouring country is going to supply Iskander missile systems to Belarus.

Five missile brigades deployed on Russia's western border will be equipped with new Iskander short-range missile systems by 2015, RIA Novosti reports with a reference to Defense Ministry sources.

The Ministry of Defence noted that brigades in the Kaliningrad region will equipped with Iskander systems. Besides, it is planned to supply Belarusian army with Iskanders.

It should be reminded that on November 5, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in his first address to the Federal Assembly that Iskander missile systems would be deployed in the Kaliningrad region that will allow Russia to target from US missile facilities. He called this decision enforced.

The Minister of Defence said that Iskander is likely to target US missile defense facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.
