Lukashenka: “We have proposals for Russians”

The Belarusian ruler says strategic decisions will be taken at the oncoming session of the Supreme State Council of the “union state”.

“Being a chairman of the supreme body of the union state, I say that this is going to be a special meeting. A number of agreements on strategic cooperation in key issues of strengthening of the union building will be signed at the session,” Lukashenka said when meeting with Governor of the Saratov oblast Pavel Ipatov in Minsk.

According to the head of state, “relations between the two countries are on the edge of a new stage of development”. A. Lukashenka said that “the global financial crisis and other challenges of the modern world have revealed a need for more intensive uniting of efforts of the parties.”

The Belarusian ruler said he was sure that “strengthening of Belarusian-Russian relations, tight political cooperation of the united actions on the global scene and phased economic work will have a positive impact over process of creation of the union state.”

Lukashenka also said regional cooperation played a great role in developing the bilateral relations. According to him, the Saratov Oblast is a dynamically developing Russia’s region that buys different goods, among them products of Belarus. “We have proposals for the Russians,” he said.

Lukashenka also finds perspective to develop cooperation with the Saratov Oblast in learning Russia’s experience in constructing and running of nuclear power plants. “We would like you to teach us this new direction of our activity,” he said meaning Russia’s help in training staff for the future Belarusian nuclear plant.
