13 oppositionists were detained near the detention facility in Valadarski Street in Minsk on November 24.
Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, “Young Front” and the initiative “Young Belarus” gathered near the Minsk detention facility with portraits of Alyaksandr Barazenka demanding to release the prisoner of conscience.
The oppositionists were violently detained by militiamen in uniform and in mufti.
“They were dragging us cruelly on the ground when detaining. When I was pushed in a car, my leg was outside, and they were trying to close the door. It was intolerable pain,” activist of the “European Belarus” Maksim Vinyarski told to the Charter’97 press center.
The detained oppositionists, among them Paval Yukhnevich, Maksim Vinyarski, Palina Kuryanovich, Marta Maiseenka, Aleh Ladutska, Alyaksei Yanusheuski, Artur Finkevich, Uladzimir Syarheeu, Yury Peshkau and others, were guarded to the Maskouski district militia department of Minsk.
Those who hadn’t been fingerprinted after recent arrests near the detention facility were subjected to this procedure in the militia department. Then they were released, no reports were drawn up.

Activist of the “European Belarus” civil campaign Alyaksandr Barazenka was arrested on October 27 in a building of the Investigative Committee of Preliminary Investigation of the city militia department of the Minsk city executive committee, where he had been called in for questioning. The oppositionist is one of the figures of the Process of 14, a criminal case, instigated on article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus against participants of a peaceful rally of entrepreneurs, held in Minsk on January 10, 2008. It is remarkable that he was arrested just after the European Union lifted sanctions on high ranking Belarusian officials.
