District election commission of Buda-Kashalyova has filed a lawsuit against a former candidate for “deputy” Kastus Zhukouski. 1 million 700 thousand rubles are to be collected for withdrawal from the “campaign”.

The session of the court is to take place on November 17 in the court of Tsentralny district of Homel.

As Kastus Zhukouski said to BelaPAN, he used the money for campaign materials, but three days before the election he decided to withdraw.

“I was sure that the regime hasn’t fulfilled the conditions of the United Democratic Forces. Me and members of my initiative group were persecuted, dismissed, my car was searched without prosecutor’s warrant. Why should I return the money, if the reasons of my withdrawal are objective and justifiable reasons? The court would take the side of the state certainly. In the next election I also plan in the same constituency. But I will use my own money for the campaign, in order to prevent the authorities from dishonoring me unreasonably,” said the activist of the opposition.

As we have informed, earlier in an interview to BelaPAN the chairperson of the Central Election Committee Lidziya Yarmoshyna told that the former candidates for “deputies” who withdrew from the “election” are to compensate the means given to them for producing agitation materials. As said by her, 22 candidates for deputies withdrew from the campaign.
