The KGB of Belarus is set to increase the variety of forms of educational work with the youth. It has been stated by the deputy chairman of the KGB (State Security Committee) of Belarus Mikalay Smalenski to journalists.
He noted that the state security organs solve their specific problems. At the same time, security officers in Minsk and in the regions are taking an active part in the educational work with students and schoolchildren. Workers of the central office of the KGB also act as a patrons to the Republican centre of medical rehabilitation of mentally and neurologically challenged children. Annual actions “KGB Officers to Children” in the national children’s recuperative camp “Zubryonak” have become traditional, BelTA informs.
“This work would be continued in the future, and the list of events would be expanded,” Mikalay Smalenski said. In particular, it is planned to hold voluntary Saturday work, collection of money for helping institutions in which they are patrons, for instance, in buying medicines, necessary equipment. Sporting and cultural events are to be organized. Sponsored schoolchildren are to be invited to celebrations dedicated to young officers’ admission as KGB officers.
“The youth is our future, and workers of state security organs cannot stay indifferent to its upbringing,” Mikalay Smalenski said. He added that the KGB officers also carry out work on prevention of different crimes among the young people, especially students. Regular meetings with young people and educational institutions’ administrations are held for that.
Schoolchildren of the sponsored Felix Dzerzhinsky school in Tsyasnova have visited the central office of the KGB of Belarus in Minsk for the first time today. The action “State security organs of your country” was held in line with the presidential program “Children of Belarus”. The organizers of the event were the Republican Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of state security workers and the administration of the secondary school in Tsyasnova.
As said by Mikalay Smalenski, the central office of the KGB maintains long-term friendly ties with the sponsored school. For the first time pupils had a chance to meet with officers of the KGB, communicate with them and with KGB veterans. The program of events also includes visit to the historical-demonstrational, educational and health centres of the KGB. “Alpha” group officers have demonstrated their skills to children.
