  • 6.11.2008, 14:36

Officers of EU countries embassies have visited Kurapaty memorial area today. According to different sources, the Soviet secret police NKVD killed from tens to hundreds of thousands of people there.

As BelaPAN reports, diplomats laid flowers and paid tribute to the memory of innocent victims.

It should be reminded that authorised rally Dzyady was held there last Sunday, organised by the Belarusian Popular Front party and Conservative Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front.

Ahead of the rally, activists of the CCP BPF detained vandals who were breaking crosses in Kurapaty. A criminal case hasn’t been instigated against them.

Vandals violated Kurapaty several times, desecrating crosses and memorials to the victims of mass execution. As the Belarusian authorities refused to protect the memorial, attempts to find vandals were unsuccessful.
