Iran belongs to key partners of Belarus in Middle East, with which the Belarusian side is ready to develop cooperation in numerous directions.

It has been stated by the chairman of the “council of republic” of the “national assembly” Barys Batura said at a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini.

“Iran is a key partner of Belarus in the Middle East, which is confirmed by the high level of bilateral contacts,” the speaker of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament said.

B. Batura noted that over the last three years the sides exchanged visits at the highest level, “which have added a considerable impetus to the bilateral relations. These meetings have defined the strategy of our cooperation”, Barys Batura said.

He expressed gratitude to the Iranian side “for cooperation in the international arena, in particular, for the support within the framework of the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement.” Barys Batura also praised an effective cooperation between the parliaments of Belarus and Iran, reminded the Iranian Ambassador about the signed memorandum on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. He noted that the earlier postponed idea of a visit of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to Iran can be fulfilled as there are possibilities for that.

Boris Batura underscored a dramatic upturn in the development of the Belarus-Iran economic cooperation. “Belarus is interested in the implementation of all agreements, especially, at the high level,” the speaker said.

In his turn, the Iranian diplomat said that the political relations between Belarus and Iran have been developing much better than the economic ones. “We have very good political relations,” the Ambassador said. “The parliaments can play an important role in enhancing the economic cooperation”, Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini said.
