Oppositionists detained on border and seized property

Activists of Belarusian opposition may face problems at border crossing point Makrany in Malaryta district on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.

As Alyaksandr Taustyka, one of the leaders of the entrepreneurs’ movement, told to Radio Svaboda, Belarusian border guards and customs officers especially carefully search a bus driving to Ukraine.

“They are checking all participants of Young Politicians School. For example, Yuras Istomin, head of the Hrodna organization of the United Civil Party, was seized a laptop, CDs, and literature by KGB officers. They are checking personal things of other people, too,” Alyaksandr Taustyka said.
