Militia fired 11 shots at criminal suspect (Video)

Minsk militia officer shot dead a criminal suspect on Saturday. State-run TV channels inform the details about the incident.

The suspect was in detention for hooliganism, a theft and causing of serous bodily harm.

It happened at night in Russiyanov Street, “Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi” newspaper reports, referring to ONT channel. Militia arrived on a call and found two wounded persons in an apartment.

– We arrived on the address before the emergency medical service, – Alyaksei Haruchka, officer of the patrol-guard service of the militia department of the Minsk city executive committee, said. – We found a man wounded in his stomach and chest and a wounded woman in the flat. Their relatives told us marks of a criminal and began searching the territory.

In a park near the house, militiamen saw a man similar to the person described. He was sitting on a bench and speaking on his mobile phone.

As the suspect noticed the militiamen, he opened fire without notice. – A militia officer fired five shots, another one – six shots using government-issue weapon, – told Pavel Martsenkevich, squad commander in the regiment of the patrol-guard service of the militia department of the Minsk city executive committee. – It should be noted that militia officers were under aimed fire. They defended and were shooting back back. The criminal seems to have made six shots.

It should be reminded that one militiaman was wounded at his leg in the shooting.

The killed person used a Makarov pistol with filed off numbers. He was a cohabite of a neighbour of the wounded man and woman. They injured are at hospital now.

The prosecutor’s office gave a preliminary estimation of actions of militiamen. Their actions are recognized legally competent.
