Aleksei Anisimov, advisor in the Russian Security Council, said possible deployment of US missile defense system in Europe, actions of NATO bloc and the US were a direct threat to security of Russia and Belarus.
“NATO bloc, a new military and political force in Europe, is a potential threat to the security of the union state. The planned deploying of anti-missile defence systems in the Czech Republic and Poland will complicate the task of defending security of our countries,” A. Anisimov said in Minsk at a seminar organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the “union” on security of the “union state”, Interfax reports.
According to the advisor in the Russian Security Council, “the geopolitical situation in the world hasn’t become more stable and predictable. Changing of this situation is global. “Failures of the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan make this country more aggressive that can lead to inadequate actions,” A. Anisimov noted. In particular, the Caucasian conflict has shown that “the US met with obstacles to strengthening of its influence”. However, the expert thinks, the United States will continue “focusing on methods of force and military superiority when expanding its political influence”.
In this case, A. Anisimov said, “Russia and Belarus can’t feel secure”. In this connection, A. Anisimov added that “political, economic, military, and diplomatic measures on countering new threats” should be taken in the frames of the union relations. “Deterring military aggression against Russia and Belarus is hardly possible today, but new joint actions on creation of modern mobile military forces able to resist if one of the parties faces aggression should be taken,” the advisor in the Russian Security Council said.
