Ode to Crisis

Democracies will survive during the crisis, while dictatorships will die out systematically, head of the Free Theatre Mikalai Khalezin writes.

Here is the text of Mikalai Khalezin’s article Ode to Crisis, published on his blog.

I have finally realized today that I support economy in this confrontation between human being and economy. If there were no Crisis, it should have been invented.

It is Crisis that is able to cure pride and unprofessionalism of our world.

It is Crisis that is able to return Logic to our life.

It is Crisis that has become the line, behind which medicine for mental health of the planet lies.

Do you remember oil at 140 per barrel?

Do you remember assurances of putins, lukashenkas and chavezes saying “the crisis won’t affect us”?

Do you remember exhibitions for billionaires?

Do you remember news about concerts of george michaels at potanins’ birthday parties?

Do you remember an innumerable quantity of series played by untalented actors?

Forget!

The world is changing.

Total sobering is rapid and inevitable.

Speaking with European producers, I see how careful they have become when choosing projects. The untalented shouldn’t be fought against – it will die far from market.

I look at putins and lukashekas and see that impudency and insolence have turned to perplexity. Panic and desperation will come next.

Dictators have hard lives – there are only few of them and they don’t like helping one another Democracies will survive, they have to support one another, while dictatorships will die out systematically.

Yes, people will face difficulties within three or four years. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. It will become repay of a credit on returning to life Logic as first principal of the world.

As a rule, life is longer than Crisis. This thought comforts and gives a hope for its new quality.

Enjoy Crisis, you have to get through it, so do it with pleasure, revealing new senses and sources of creativity!
