Authorities of the “union state” plan to form a military organisation on a basis of structures of Russia and Belarus.
Deputy speaker of the Russian State Duma Aleksandr Babakov said it during an online conference in RIA Novosti.
According to Babakov, this organisation will be created on a basis of military structures of Russia and Belarus.
“It is aimed at defence and security support of the union state and defence of vital interests from external and internal threats,” RIA Novosti quotes A. Babakov.
According to him, “it is high time to discuss approaches of formation of joint military units. We speak here about solving common problems not only by deploying military forces or cooperation in military sector, but also by creation of some bodies that can be named real attributes of the State.
A. Babakou said together Russian and Belarus had more opportunities to manage the global financial crisis.
According to the deputy speaker, the case is in the most economically effective kinds of cooperation in different spheres, in other words “it is an answer to a question on how to reduce product cost, provide reduction in consumption of materials and energy intensity.”
The vice speaker also noted that the union state is able to become a center of a political union of eastern European states, similar to the European Union in the West. As Babakov says expanding of the union state is possible and Caucasian republics can join it if they want.
“Why not? It is a matter of time and will of the peoples of these counties,” he said.
