The 35th session of the parliamentary assembly of the “union state” of Belarus and Russia has been rescheduled for December 16. Previously it was planned for December 9.

The place of holding the session would be the same, Minsk. The agenda of the session remains the same too. The key issue would be granting of power to “parliamentarians” delegated by the “national assembly” of Belarus.

The parliamentary assembly consists of the equal number of representatives of countries-participants: Belarus and Russia delegate 36 persons each. The “chamber of representatives” consists of 23 seats, “the council of republic” 13 seats.

It is planned to consider measures for removing shortcomings in organizing and preparation of the programs of the “union state” and on streamlining the budget process. Besides, “parliamentarians” of the union are to discuss plans of international activities in 2009.

As the Charter’97 press-centre informed, the session of the supreme state council of the “union state” had been postponed, and Alyaksandr Lukashenka didn’t go to Moscow as it had been planned. Russian mass media claim that the state council was cancelled after the Belarusian side decided to include the issue of gas prices into the agenda at the supreme moment.
