Alyaksandr Lukashenka said the Constitutional Court should activate its work and constitutional control should be strengthened in the country. He also noted “control over constitutionality of the adopted in the country regulatory legal acts shouldn’t be reduced to just criticism.”
“Constitutional control must be strengthened and be more effective. It’s especially topical question in conditions of the power widening of the executive bodies seen over the last time,“ he said introducing Pyotr Miklashevich to the post of Chairman of the Constitutional Court.
Lukashenka also said “control over constitutionality of the adopted in the country regulatory legal acts shouldn’t be reduced to just criticism.” “The Constitutional Court should see future development of the national legal system not from the point of view of study-books and foreign experience, but on the basis of developing socioeconomic and political reality in our state and the life in general,” A. Lukashenka said.
He thinks the Constitutional Court should make “concrete proposals for perfecting of the national legal system, not to restrict itself to statement of the revealed facts.” In this connection, the president noted, “I and the judges of the Constitutional Court will determine the additional directions where specialists and judges of the Constitutional Courts will be involved in.”
A. Lukashenka stressed “The Constitutional Court mustn’t be a close system, isolated from the state and the society.”
“We shouldn’t lose sight of the main thing – work of the Constitutional Court influences essentially the stability in our state,” the Belarusian president declared.
