Participants of hunger strike to gather on October Square

On March 20 at 6 p.m. democratic activists who had announced a hunger strike will gather on October Square.

A civil activist Tatsyana Vanina was an initiator of the action. “I offered people who joined the hunger strike and those who support them, take to the square with portraits of people whom we demand to be released from prisons,” she told to the United Civil party press-service. “We shall put plate: “I go on hunger strike” on. People will be able to join the hunger strike there, on the square, even symbolically, for 1 day. In this way moral solidarity with political prisoners would be expressed”.

As said by Tastyana Vanina, March 20 is a very symbolic date. Two years ago on this day a tent camp was created on the square. Its defenders protested against rigged results of the presidential vote. She noted that in connection with those events Alyaksandr Kazulin was detained and thrown into prison. On March 25, 2006 together with pother protesters he marched towards Akrestsin Street pre-trial detention center to support arrested participants of Belarusian Maidan.

Tatsyana Vanina starts hunger strike on March 20. As we have informed, a former political prisoner Syarhei Skrabets and his brother Alyaksandr Skrabets were the first to go on hunger strike on March 10 with a demand to release Alyaksandr Kazulin”.

As said by Tatsyana Vanina, participants of the relay hunger strike of protest will gather on October Square every evening at 6 p.m.
