Hungry strike in support of Kazulin on October Square (Photo)

An action in support of political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin was held on October (Kastrychnitskaya) Square in Minsk in the evening of 20 March.

The participants were Syarhei and Alyaksandr Skabets’, and activist of the United Civil Party Tatsyana Vanina, who are on hunger strike.

Syarhei and Alyaksandr Skrabets’ declared the termless hungry strike on 10 March. Other public activists joined them, including T. Vanina, who went on hunger strike on 19 March. They demand immediate release of political prisoners Alyaksandr Kazulin, youth activist Andrei Kim and entrepreneur Syarhei Parsyukevich.

The participants of the action stood near the zero milestone on October Square and unfurled slogans “I impose hunger strike.”

The action began at 6.00pm and lasted no longer than 3 hours. After militiamen intervened, the protesters had to go away.

Militiamen hindered other participants of the action to come to square. Young people were checked their documents and bags at metro exit.

Syarhei Skrabets said to journalists such actions were to be held every evening till 25 March. The participants of the hunger strike will try to attract attention of the pubic to A. Kazulin’s problem.
