Court supported total lawlessness by police

A young activist Maksim Serhejts has been sentenced to 5 days of arrest by the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk for dissemination of stickers with an invitation to celebrate Freedom Day. Yesterday the activist was beaten up in the police department.

Judge Tastyana Paulyuchuk charged the activist with violation of Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code – “violation of the rules of staging mass events”. Policemen of the Tsentralny security service department Mikalay Yanushkevich and Viadzim Hubarau were witnesses in the court.

As we have informed, Maksim Serhejts. Was detained yesterday in one of Minsk trolley-buses after he pasted a stiker. The guy was beaten up in the police department. As told by a democratic activist Alyaksei Shloma, Syarhejts put up legal requirements: to file a report and introduce themselves. And it caused the rage of Lukashenka’s law-enforcers. Maksim was beaten up on the head and in the chest. Shloma, who knows Serhejts long ago, said that he has heart problems, and he was taken bad. He demanded to call in an ambulance; however he received several blows in response.
