The address was written by world-famous personalities Zbigniew Brzezinski, Adam Michnik, Andre Glucksmann, Sergei Kovaliov, Myroslaw Marynowycz, Marek Edelman, Bogdan Lis, Marius Oprea, Semen Hluzman, Aleksander Smolar and others.

More than 400 letters have been written. In the next few days the letters would be sent by mail immediately to Lukashenka. Besides, more than 500 e-mails have been sent from the internet-site www.wolnabialorus.pl

The initiative was supported by many common people who were writing letters themselves and invited their friends to join them. The process of collecting signatures in support of Kazulin has become one of he items in the TV program Panorama of the 2 Channel in Poland. Besides, the action was covered by leading Polish newspapers like “Gazeta Wyborcza” and “Rzeczpospolita”. At the same time, the action has been supported by the leader of the movement “For Freedom!” Alyaksandr Milinkevich.

The text of the address to Alyaksandr Lukashenka:

Mister President,

Your political opponent Alyaksandr Kazulin remains in prison. He has been cruelly punished for a rally against violation of democratic standards during the presidential election in 2006. The world community recognized Alyaksandr Kazulin as a prisoner of conscience and a victim of the regime which tortures its citizens.

Your actions during the family tragedy of Alyaksandr Kazulin, when his wife Iryna died after a long disease, cause particular concern and indignation.

A death of a loved one is a terrible drama, which shouldn’t become a subject of political process, blackmailing or attempts of psychological pressure on the person who has such a difficult situation. The attempts to ignore this fact are treated by us as an attack against human dignity.

Mister President, only one way of at least partial compensating the great loss caused by your regime to Alyaksandr Kazulin exists. It is his immediate release from prison. You should restrain from further persecution and repressions, so that Kazulin could attend funeral of his wife as a free citizen, and return to a normal life in the society.

We demand immediate release of Alyaksandr Kazulin and hope for your clemency!
