Alyaksandr Milinkevich, head of the organising committee of the “For Freedom” movement, was set free in the evening of 24 April. He spent 2 hours and 40 minutes in the Maskouski district militia department. The politician was detained at the beginning of his meeting with dwellers of the Minsk city district Malinauka.

“In the militia department we had a long conversation about everything – social, economic and political situation in the country, international situation,” A. Milinkevich said to BelaPAN. “I don’t exclude my partners in conversation were making a pause while waiting for their authorities to decide what they should do with me ahead of Charnobyl Way.”

A. Milinkevich and other applicants for the action were called to the city prosecutor’s office for a conversation at 5.00pm 24 April. They were proposed to sign an official warning on holding unauthorised mass events. Organisers of Charnobyl Way refused to do it. A. Milinkevich wasn’t present at the meeting. “I phoned to the prosecutor’s office and said I had no time. They invited me to come at 2.30pm on 25 April,” A. Milinkevich said. According to him, he is not going to sign any warnings: “I was offered to sign such papers when I was in regions, but they have no legal basis.”
