Bono built family orphanage in Kopyl

It’s a 34 orphanage of family type built by the Belarusian children’s fund in the framework of the program “Warm House”.

Under the conditions of this program a family receives a cottage with furniture and house equipment. Local authorities give parents money for children, pays all public utility charges, “Respublika” writes.

The main partner of the Belarusian Children’s’ Fund and the sponsor of the “Warm House” program over the last three years was an international organisation from Ireland, “Chernobyl children’s project”.

They have allocated money for construction of an orphanage of family type in Kopyl. Adi Roche, Executive Director of the Chernobyl Children’s. Project was the first foreign citizen who was decorated with Francis Skaryna award. Besides, she is a co-author of a documentary film “Chernobyl heart” which won Oscar prize in 2004.

Common citizens and well-off sponsors donate to the charity in Ireland.

One of them is U2 group leader Bono (Paul David Hewson) known by his charity work. Last week his wife visited Belarus. She was in Chernobyl zone as well.

Last week a charity action “Chernobyl Week” was held in Ireland. Representatives of the organisation toured the country, told about the catastrophe at Chernobyl nuclear power station, collected donations.

“Chernobyl Children's Project International” works in Belarus since 1991. This organisation has given 73 million Euro to our country already.
