Vice Prime Minister Kabyakou: Prices for Russian gas are to grow

  • 19.06.2008, 9:30

Andrei Kabyakou, Prime Minister of Belarus, has stated that prices for Russian gas are to grow, as they are related to the cost of oil which constantly grows.

As said by him, Russia reconsiders its own plans on changing prices inside the country to reach the so-called net-back prices for Russian customers in 2011, “Telegraf” writes.

“As long as oil prices haven’t grown to the extent forecast in 2006, so gas prices calculated according to formulas differ from the parameters used by the Russian side for their prognoses in 2006 greatly. They also differ from the prices which were the basis of the Belarusian-Russian agreement on gas deliveries signed in 2006,” the Vice Prime Minister explained to Interfax.

“We see that the Russian side reconsiders its plans, though the prices are to grow all the same, it is a track that has no alternative. The question is, how steep they will go up. There are statements that gas prices in Russia are to be much lower than those calculated under formulas,” Andrei Kabyakou says.

“We offer Russia to make corrections in the trade with Belarus as well. Today it is the subject of negotiations,” he said.
