The “Belarusian Music Alternative” prepares another large rock-festival outside the country. It is called “Be Free!”. The festival is a kind of continuation of the event held last year in the Ukrainian Lutsk.

“On August 8-10 a festival “Be Free!” is to take place in Lviv, Ukraine. The festival is at the stage of preparation now, and we already have a permission of Lviv authorities. The festival is to last two days and to take place at two stages, one in the park and one on the market, in the central Square. Participation of 15-20 groups is planned. It also depends on the authorized beginning and ending time, as it is still to be approved,” the head of the Belarusian Music Alternative Vital Supranovich said to Deutsche Welle.

Organisers of the festival “primarily aims to help Belarusian bands, both well-known and young, as there are not many festivals in Belarus, and it seems to us that we are to popularize the Belarusian music in the closest countries, and principally in the neighbouring countries, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania,” Supranovich says.

As we have informed, last year the Belarusian authorities tried to prevent lovers of Belarusian rock music from visiting the festival “A Right to be Free”. Two buses with Belarusian viewers were stopped in different places. As a result, more than a hundred fans were unable to watch concerts of their favourite musicians. The time will tell what will happen this year.
