October (Kastrychnitskaya) metro station has been closed for a reconstruction today. In the meantime, as it was found out, a “compensatory” bus ride should be paid for.

“For the time of reconstruction of the interchange station compensative route of bus No.33 “Institute of Culture Metro Station – Victory Square Metro Station” with stops “Maskouskaya Str.,” “Independence Square,” “Kamsamolskaya Str.,” “October Metro Station,” “Victory Square Metro Station” will be organised. Ride will be free of charge,” official information agency BelTA hastened to calm Minsk dwellers.

However, as the Charter’97 press center has found out, BelTA either has wrong information or deceives people. Ride on bus No. 33 is fee-paying. The Charter’97 press center has learnt it from the state institution “Capital’s Transport and Communication.”

In the meantime, October station will be closed for passengers loading and getting off at least until 1 September. The reconstruction costs 15 billion rubles. What it will cost a person, can be easily calculated.

In the absence of a travel card for metro and bus (only metro travel card was enough earlier) a one way ride will cost 1800 rubles instead of 600.
