The Council of Europe has given the human rights organisation Belarusian Helsinki Committee a partner status as recognition of the established working relations between the Council of Europe and Belarusian human rights watchdogs.
A status of a partner for national public associations was established in 2003 in order to acknowledge cooperation, active and constructive role of national NGOs in implementation of the EU Actions Plan.
National NGOs which have a status of the COE partner, can visit sessions of the Parliamentary assembly and of the Congress of local and regional authorities of the Council of Europe, as well as seminars, conferences and other events of the COE, present information, documents or opinions within their expertise field to the Council of Europe’s bodies, and to receive information on standards and activities of the Council of Europe in this sphere.
The list of NGOs which have a status of a partner, has been sent to all structures of the Council of Europe and is published at the official website of the Council of Europe (http://www.coe.int).
