Persons detained in blast case to be released. Will oppositionists be released? (Video)

The 10-day period under guard for some opposition activists detained in the case of the blast in Minsk expires today.

It has been stated y a deputy chairperson of the World Association of Belarusians "Batskaushchyna" (or "Fatherland") Nina Shydlouskaya, a wife of Miraslau Lazouski, one of the detained.

“Today evening the 10-day period under guard expires for Syarhei Chyslau, Miraslau Lazouski, Viktar Lyashchynski, Ihar Korsak,” Shydlouskaya said. As said by her, “they are either to be released or accusation to be presented to them”.

Shydlouskaya specified that “they are kept in the remand prison in Minsk in Akrestsin Street”. As have been informed earlier with a reference to N. Shydlouskaya, over the period of detention the four former activists detained in the framework of investigation of the criminal case on the blast in Minsk, they were interrogated one time.

In the framework of the investigation of the blast case members of the Belarusian Popular Front Anton Kojpish and Illya Bohdan, opposition activists Yury Karetnikau and Mikhail Sharamet have been detained as well.

Yesterday persons, who were detained on July 7, have been released from a remand prison in Akrestsin Street. Among the detained are students who were members of a chemistry circle. A biology student of the Belarusian State University Tatsyana Pikun has been released, Radio Svaboda informs.

The girl was a witness in the criminal case brought up last year in connection with production of home-made firecrackers. Another person involved in that case, a student Aleh Sheleh, is imprisoned as well. Then he was issued a conditional sentence.

Students of chemistry were the first to be put on the list of suspects. Later all workers of the Chemistry Institution of the Academy of Science, students and professors of chemistry were fingerprinted. Scientists said categorically, that it is impossible to make such a bomb at home. It is also impossible to make it at work. They say it is not enough to have an education of a chemist for that.

As an agency Interfax-Zapad informed earlier with a reference to a temporarily head of Information and PR department of the Internal Ministry of Belarus Kanstantsin Shalkevich, none of the detained in the blast case has been presented accusation. As said by him, “people are detained for 10 days in the framework of the investigation, so it is not worthwhile to name them and give their exact figure”.

According to human rights activists, from 50 to 70 persons have been detained in the blast case.
