Belarus stops recuperation trips for children to the US. It has been stated by Alyaksandr Kalyada, the head of the Humanitarian activities department of the Administrative department of the president.
“We suspend programs of children’s rest and recuperation at the US territory in connection with the situation with the underage citizen of Belarus Tatsyana Kazyra, who hasn’t returned to Belarus,” the official stated.
He explained that the programs are suspended until a bilateral agreement on recuperation signed, Interfax informs.
“In order to rule out in the future such incidents as Tatsyana Kazyra’s, the Belarusian side offers to make an intergovernmental agreement with the US on conditions of recuperation trips of underage children. The draft agreement is to be sent to the US side in the near future,” A. Kalyada said.
The 16-year-old citizen of Barysau Tatsyana Kazyra refused to return to Belarus after her stay in Petaluma, California.
At the moment a few groups of Belarusian children are in the US at rest and recuperation trips. The last is return to Belarus on August 23.
