On the last day of registration of candidates for deputies in Lepel a member of the organising committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democratic party Alyaksei Aleksandrovich was detained.

“Naturally, the detention has made it impossible to register as a candidate for deputy,” Alyaksei Aleksandrovich said to “Narodnaya Volya” reporter.

He planned to run in Lepel constituency No. 23. However, on the last day of submitting documents Alyaksandrovich was detained during the meeting with the member of his initiative group.

“I was detained by the head of criminal investigation department of Lepel Gvoshchanka,” Alyaksei continues. “Policemen demanded to produce passport, which was in my car, and after that I was taken to the police department by force. I was asked questions like: “Who are you? What are you doing here?”, and all the time new people were coming, and the so-called interrogation continued on and on”. Finally, about 8 p.m. Alyaksei was released. “It was evident that policemen were intentionally temporizing, for the time of presenting documents for registration to expire,” Alyaksei Aleksandrovich believes.

He thinks that this counteraction of the regime is caused purely by the fact that local officials saw a threat for themselves in the excellent and well coordinated work of his team.
