“Extremist” materials” were found in a computer of a young activist after a year and a half

On September 13 a student of Bialystok University Alyaksei Trubkin received documents from Hrodna regional KGB department by post. According to them, the guy is to come to the court of Kastrychnitski district in Hrodna on September 18. The student is charged with “extremism”.

In the end of the year 2006 a personal computer was seized from Trubkin’s apartment, and only now it has become known that files of allegedly “extremist” character had been found in the computer, Radio Racyja informs.

“After information restoration in the computer bin graphic and text files on activities of an unregistered youth organisation Young Front were found.”

In other files video footage of Nazi Germany, video clips of hooliganism by football fans, viode footage of unsanctioned demonstration were found, and so on.

“The conclusion: thus the information on this data carrier has an extremist character and can cause damage to economic and political interests of the state,” the KGB document reads.

It is interesting, what damage could these materials cause?

“Books and CDs confiscated from Alyaksei Trubkin were found “extremist”. Among “detrimental” was a book “Review of human rights violations in Belarus in 2002”, as it contains “a great number of photo materials on mass unsanctioned protest rallies in the Republic of Belarus, and materials with a call to seize the state power in an unconstitutional way and to organize mass riot”.

KGB representatives ask the court to recognize the materials “extremist” and destroy them.

A few more people have been summoned to the court of Kastrychnitski district of Hrodna on the same day. “Extremist materials” were confiscated from them on the border.
