On the Day of Belarusian Solidarity September 16 near the building of Foreign Embassy of Poland in Warsaw a picket organized by representatives of the Belarusian expat community and activists of public organisations was held.
Participants of the rally reminded the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski, who had stated during the visit to Belarus about some “positive changes in the policy of Belarusian authorities,” that leaders of opposition and a journalist had been abducted and assassined.
Protesters were holding in their hands portraits of the Vice Speaker of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation Viktar Hanchar, the former minister of the Internal Affairs Yury Zakharanka, a businessman and public leader Anatol Krasouski and a journalist Zmitser Zavadski. Besides, picketers unfurled a poster with portraits of high-ranking Belarusian officials Uladzimir Navumau, Viktar Sheiman, Yury Sivakou and Dzmitry Paulichenka, who are suspected of implication in abductions and assassinations of opposition leaders by the world community. The words under the portraits of Lukashenka’s officials were: “Suspected of crimes against humanity”.
When deputy minister Ryszard Sznepf arrived, participants of the rally met him with the words: “Yes to Belarus! No to Lukashenka!” the official quickly disappeared in the building, the picketers noted.
The picket in front of the Foreign Ministry of Poland lasted for more than an hour and attracted great attention of journalists, Foreign Ministry staff and residents of Warsaw.
