Alyaksandr Dabravolski: “it can evoke logic suspicion that rigging is being prepared

“In the conditions, when it is impossible to print election materials and inform the electorate about my programme, I find it impossible to run in this “election”. It was the last drop. We offered a candidate to each polling station lection commission, but none of them was included. It evokes logic suspicion that rigging are being prepared,” deputy head of the United Civil Party Alyaksandr Dabravolski told in an interview to the Charter’97 press center.
It should be reminded that five MP candidates, members of the United Civil Party, have stopped running in the “election campaign”. Among them are Stanislau Bahdankevich, Valyantina Palyavikova, Hanna Yahorava, Katsyaryna Malasaeva, and Alyaksandr Dabravolski.
“I had no illusions that the election will be fair, but I got used to work in election campaign to obtain support of people. But it is impossible to work now! Besides we have little money for agitation, we are not able to print it/ it is just farce. We offered a candidate to each polling station election commission, but none of them was included. But CEC spokesman Lazavik says our candidates for election commissions have no influence in the society! Look who is talking! What influence Lazavik and Yarmoshyna have! We offered candidatures of former deputy head of the Constitutional Court of Belarus Valer Fadzeeu, famous lawyer and human rights activist Harry Pahanyaila and other famous people of the country. An average level of our representatives are higher than level of people in the commissions. It evokes a logic suspicion that rigging is being prepared,” Alyaksandr Dabravolski noted.
It should be reminded that Alyaksandr Dabravolski, in spite of his young age, was deputy of the Supreme Council of the USSR and was a member of the Democratic Interregional Group, whose members were Andrei Sakharov, Gavriil Popov, Boris Yeltsin, and Yury Afanasyev. In May 1995, Dabravolski won the election to the Supreme Court by a landslide.
Alyaksandr Dabravolski said about his withdrawal from “election 2008”:
“It was a difficult decision. I didn’t want so much to run this campaign to the end, but I am a team player and I got used to act in such a way that to gain the results with my associates,” Alyaksandr Dabravolski noted.
