Member of initiative group of opposition candidate detained

On September 22, physically challenged Vasil Siliverst, liquidator of the Chernobyl disaster, was detained in Yelsk at 10.00 pm. He is a member of the initiative group of Mikalai Haurylenka, UCP candidate for deputy of the “parliament” in Palesse constituency #43.

Militia major Kalesnik detained him. Siliverst was returning to his mother from his friend. The militia major froze on him on a pretext the latter had no flickers. The militia officer called him a BPF party member. He rebuked Siliverst for he supported Mikalai Haurylenka - contender of the head of the Yelsk city executive committee Syarhei Kanoplich.

Vasil Siliverst was guarded to the militia station of the Yelsk militia department. The detention was accompanied with abusive language and insults, threat to “go to mental house” or “throw in prison under an article” Radio Svaboda reports.
