Performance against nuclear power station: “Dead bodies” under white bed sheets in centre of Minsk (Photo)

Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” have held a performance of protest against construction of a nuclear power station in Belarus.

Three young men were lying on the floor in the pedestrian subway of “Frunzenskaya” metro station, having covered themselves by white bed sheets with a radiation hazard sign.

At that moment a few activists were handing out leaflets with information about construction of the nuclear power station in Belarus, and results of research which found increased rate of leukemia in children living near a nuclear power station. The number of people who live near nuclear power stations and in contaminated areas and who suffer from cancer is higher too. This statistics, published I specialized medical magazines, are hidden by the Belarusian regime.

As stated by the participants of the protest, most passers-by didn’t even know about the plans to build a nuclear power station in Belarus, and were distressed to hear the news about that.
