Despite of the collapse of the Belarusian ruble by 20.5%, addressing people in Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk on January 7, Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated again: “There is no crisis in the country”.
“As you see, we do not cancel any programs, we will act conscientiously and we are in no way to lose heart as other countries do referring to some crisis,” the official news agency Belta quotes him.
“I have said openly and honestly last year, that this year would be not an easy one, but if we would overcome it with dignity, we would be much stronger than now,” Lukashenka said. “And we are doing everything for the negative tendencies unfortunately developing in the world, and which had been generated not by our country, to pass by as soon as possible, not affecting our people, our nation”.
As said by Lukashenka, “the authorities have done a lot, and now everything depends on people, on the nation”. “We won’t lie to you, especially me. We will say the bitter truth too, even if it is bitter,” he assured. “We will ask you to do this and not that way”. “If some hard times are expecting us, we will tell you about that too”. So far “the situation is shaping in the way which shouldn’t cause any panic,” he added.
“Every person should think about himself, his family, it is the main concern. Everything else should be decided by administration of enterprises, regions, cities, by the government. I am setting that as a goal for our authorities,” the ruler said.
“You shouldn’t exaggerate what I am saying. But it would be even worse if we would ignore that. Let us get ready for the worst variant; and a better one will always be better,” A. Lukashenka said.
